Pulsed Signal Therapy (PST) Machine Fact Sheet for our Clients

Our reason for getting the PST machine
A lot of pets have pain from arthritis or trauma. This is a non-surgical, non-medication, painless therapy that relieves pain. We want to do the best job to relieve pain in those pets.

What does the PST machine do?
It promotes new bone and cartilage growth within the damaged joint, helping the joint to function with less pain.

How does the PST machine work?
It focuses a series of pulsed signals from a large electromagnet to the affected joint.

Does the pet feel the therapy?
The pets lie comfortably during the therapy, usually while their owner reads a book next to them, brushes them, or gives them treats. There is no pain or anxiety caused by the PST therapy.

How will I know that the PST therapy worked?
The owner will notice their pet moving with less pain and stiffness, greater mobility, experiencing a better quality of life. We can quantify the pain reduction with a Goniometer, and quantify changes in range of motion.

Does the pet show improvement immediately?
New bone and cartilage growth can take time. Many pets show improvement within 1 to 3 weeks; a few improve over a period of several months, depending on how severe the joint condition is.

How long does the improvement last?
Between 6 and 24 months, depending on the individual pet's situation.

Is there scientific information supporting PST therapy?
There is a lot of supportive information on the human side, especially in Europe where it is used on people extensively. It has not been approved for human use yet in the USA. There are a number of case studies on pets in the US that indicate PST therapy is as effective as ibuprofen type medications.
